the complaints/problems in the interest of fair play
My problems/complaints with S.M. Motor Sports located at 140 Lakeville
rd. New Hyde Park, NY Repair shop mechanic they specialize in sports and
foreign car repair.
Come back to this webpage to see further developments of my problems/complaints
with S.M. Motor Sports to take responsibility for mistakes I believe, were
made by them.
The problem: spending over $2500.00 for repairs on a 1986 Porsche, a car
worth approximately $10,000.00, Now after these repairs, the car is probably
only worth about $300.00 for junk.
Over the next couple of weeks I will be adding details of the problems and
developments of what I believe to be a faulty auto repair and a refusal
of the repair shop to take any responsibility for any of the problems that
occurred within 15 minutes of and less than 7 miles of leaving the shop.
This repair was done by S. M Motor Sports inc. of Lakeville Rd. New Hyde
Park, NY, managed and probably owned by Mr Sunil Mehta.
After the car was supposedly repaired, I was barely able to get the car
back home. It stalled out twice, the first time six miles from the shop.
When I drove the car back to the shop, as suggested by Mr. Mehta, it stalled
out another another two times, the last time I was not able to start it
again, We pushed the car the remaining 1/8 of mile approximately to the
shop. Approximate miles driven after the repair and till the car died 17-18
miles.
Right now there is a request into AMEX to cancel the credit card payments
as the repair was not properly done and the car damaged. After submitting
Amex a lengthy and detailed description of the problems and how the original
problem/repair the car was taken in for, was not properly repaired. So far
there has been no response from Amex, nor have they requested additional
information or the proof offered them to corroborate the statements and
conversations about the repairs.
About $1,900.00 of the work was suggested by Mr Mehta, and had nothing to
do with the original problem that the car was taken to the shop to fix.
These additional $1,900.00 repairs . were suggested by Mr Mehta after the
original problem was supposedly fixed and the engine was running properly.
The additional work was needed according to Mr Mehta to pass inspection.
The additional repairs were suggested and approved in 5 or so increments
in over a week and about ten phone calls. These additional repairs were
approved only based on the belief that the original problem had been properly
repaired.
I do understand that even the best among us can make mistakes, so I have
tried to give Mr. Mehta every chance to take even minimal responsibility
for the damages to the car or the costs thereof, but he has consistently
refused to do so, although he has no answers for what happened, not even
implausible ones.
The only sign of guilt exhibited by Mr. Mehta, occurred when I called him
five days after he was suppose to get back to me with why the car had not
been properly fixed the first time. When he took my call, he hemmed and hawed
about how he was not able to contact me because his phones had not been
working properly for the past five days. I didn't understand why he was
giving me these excuses for not calling, I was just interested in knowing
if the car was finally fixed. That is when he told me that the engine was
seized (ruined, no good, dead). At that moment I was furious, I asked him
how dare he use such a lame excuse for not calling me for five days. Did
he not have a cell phone, did his three employees not have a cell phone
between them, did none of the neighboring business located within a half
a block have phones, and lastly did he not have a home phone. He just kept
apologizing
In the next couple of days I will be posting all the information in the
letter submitted to AMEX.
Thank you for your interest and you help, fellow consumers. United we
stand!!!
