Douglas Prescott, Conservative Republican, is Assemblyman of the East Flushing, Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck, Whitestone, Malba, Bay Terrace, and Floral Park communities of Eastern Queens.

Born on November 21, 1951 in St. Vincent's Hospital, New York City Doug graduated from Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary School on Manhattan's lower east side.

He worked his way through Power Memorial High School, from which he graduated in 1969, and then through St. John's University, Queensborough Community and Queens Colleges, where he earned, in 1974 a B.A. in Political Science Communications.

Assemblyman Prescott's involvement in politics began in 1970 as a volunteer in the successful election of James L. Buckley to the United States Senate, and as campaign staffer to State Senator John J. Marchi in his 1973 NYC mayoral bid. He was a student organizer of Honor America and Prisoner of War rallies in the early 1970's, founder of the Queens County Young Republican Club and past chairman of Queens County Young Americans for Freedom.

Assemblyman Prescott is a member of four civic associations: Auburndale Improvement Association, Bowne Park Civic Association, the Broadway-Flushing Homeowners Association and, in addition, is the founder of the East Flushing Civic Association.

His legislative background began as Assistant to U.S. Senator James L. Buckley for three years and as Legislative Advisory Committee member and community representative for State Senator Frank Padavan.

On November 4, 1980, in his first major election, he was elected to the New York State Assembly.

After the redistricting process of 1982, Assemblyman Prescott lost in what was termed the most controversial election in the state that year. However, he was returned to office in 1984, 1986, 1988 1990, 1992 and 1994.
