Nettie Mayersohn (D-L-Flushing), was elected to the New York State Assembly from the 27th District in Queens County in November of 1982, after serving as a community activist for over 30 years.

Since 1972, Assemblywoman Mayersohn has also served as District Leader from the 27th Assembly District-Part A and has been Executive Member of the Stevenson Regular Democratic Club, Inc. She was a member of Community Board 8 for ten years and was formerly Chairperson of its Youth Committee. Prior to her election to the Assembly, Ms. Mayersohn was the Executive Director of the New York State Crime Victims Board.

Assemblywoman Mayersohn has a long record of community activity. She was Chairperson of the Pomonok Community Center. When the closing of a local after school program seemed imminent because of a lack of funding, Assemblywoman Mayersohn intervened, and founded and helped organize the Pomonok Neighborhood Center, Inc. The center now operates a wide range of programs including a tenant assistance program, after school and summer youth programs, a crime victims prevention program, a home attendant program, and a fuel consortium.

Assemblywoman Mayersohn is a member of the Electchester Jewish Center and the Israel Center of Hillcrest Manor. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Harry Van Arsdale, Jr. Memorial Association. In 1977, Assemblywoman Mayersohn was the New York State Delegate to the International Women's Conference and the recipient of the National Conference of Christians and Jews Builders of Brotherhood Award. In addition, in 1989, Assemblywoman Mayersohn was awarded the Legislator of the Year Award by the New York State Chapter of the National Organization for Women.

Assemblywoman Mayersohn received a B.A. from Queens College in 1978 and is a member of its Evening Honor Society, Alpha Sigma Lambda. She is married to Ronald Mayersohn and has two children, Jeffrey and Lee, and four grandchildren, Andrew, Rebecca, Benjamin and Anna. She has been a resident of the Electchester Cooperative in Flushing, Queens, for 40 years.

Nettie Mayersohn is a full-time legislator, and maintains a District Office at 65-01 Fresh Meadow Lane, Flushing, NY 11365.

Assemblywoman Mayersohn's Committee assignments include: Chairperson, Assembly House Operations Committee and Chairperson, Subcommittee on Elderly Crime Victims. She is also a member of the following Committees: Rules, Housing, Health, Labor, Insurance, and Governmental Operations.
